“Wear what YOU think is right for you not what others think is right for you” by Dorje Arts

A girl with Tibetan hat, shirt, necklaces and a hand woven bead necklace from
Africa used as extra head dress. (I made all the necklaces) :)

A wife was asking her husband what he thought of the dress she was interested in at a store the other day. The question, “What do you think?” Of course, this is not an uncommon question I have heard but it made me reflect back on my own “What do you think?” From Elementary to High School I worried about what others think of me with what I wear. I was surrounded by multiple cultures, yet I never felt I fitted anywhere. If I go to the Tibetan party, I sweated worrying about if I was wearing the right chupa (dress) or get completely embarrassed when someone criticized my dress or my speaking ability. If I go to the Nepali party, I froze over, “Do I dress American or Nepali?” I hid my Tibetan necklaces because I thought kids at school will make fun me for wearing long red coral necklaces mixed with turquoises in an American school.
Then one day about half way to my high school year I sighed, “I give up! I don’t care what others think. I am going to wear what make me happy!” It was one of my most uplifting moments in my life. I felt free! I thought, “I Love jewelry and clothes all over the world! I love Tibetan jewelry and sparkling Nepali dresses! How could I hide them in boxes! My main propose of watching old Hollywood movies and European period movies was for the dresses and jewelry. Who says only stars and royals get to wear fancy dresses and dazzled their hair with jewels? I could do that too!" Sometimes I like to dress up and go out not because I want to be noticed or to please someone but it makes me feel good.
When you don’t think about what others think, you feel more confident, creative and you start to appreciate the clothing or the jewelry you wear as if they are a piece of art :)
Don't be afraid to express your inner self expression!! :) Dress for your liking!! :) :) :) :) :)
